The USB option uses the SMR/VGA mic conductors to connect the radio's USB port to a remote computer. The radio USB appears as a computer COM port in the Windows Device Manager. The COM port controls both audio send/receive and the IC-7100 controls. The option requires the operator to connect the mic to the control head's RJ45 jack. The configuration has been tested using VGA cables up to 50 feet in length.

They say, "Necessity is the mother of invention." SwapMyRigs was created by AE4S, a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast. Decades ago, he saw the need for a simpler, more efficient way to install radios. Also, manufacturers' kits were incompatible with other brands, and sometimes, even within their own product lines.

Researched, engineered, and built in his office/shack, SwapMyRigs is now the only patented, universal, single-cable separation kit. Invented, designed, and 100% MADE IN THE USA.

AE4S graduated from Cornell University and retired from the Navy as a Captain. He has a Ph.D. in business tax, is a CPA, and is an emeritus professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
